About Us

The Consultancy was formed in the Spring of 2007 in order to provide Counselling and Psychotherapy as well as other associated services, such as Mindfulness Meditation workshops, and workshops which address the mental and emotional difficulties which arise as the result of living with Chronic Illness. It is our intention to gradually build upon this foundation and offer further avenues towards emotional and mental well-being and spiritual growth.

About Me

My name is Lyn Clarke and I am the senior practitioner in the Consultancy. I currently practise in Southgate, North London and am able to offer both Counselling and Psychotherapy. My consulting room is close to Southgate Underground Station on the Piccadilly Line, providing a fast link into the City and West End. Early morning appointments are available, which allows my clients to have therapy and then go to work from there. Additionally, I have limited early evening appointments as well appointments throughout the day. I usually work from Monday to Friday although Saturday morning appointments can be negotiated.

I was trained using an integrative approach to Counselling and Psychotherapy. This allowed me to examine a wide range of theories and ways of working with a view to establishing the approach which I felt would be most useful to my clients. My own pattern of integration is based on a psychodynamic understanding of human development and a focus on the therapeutic relationship through empathic connection. I provide a safe, non-judgmental, warm, healing space in which to explore current difficulties.

As well as working with adults I have also been trained to work with adolescents and hold a current, enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check. Whilst I work with anyone who requires counselling and psychotherapy, I specialise in two areas, the first is working with those who use self-injury in order to manage their emotional pain and the second is in helping those living with Chronic Illness to manage their lives and emotions in order to be able to live as fully as possible.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and use their Ethical Framework to guide my practise. You will find a copy of the framework on the BACP website: www.bacp.co.uk; a hard copy is available from me upon request. I also have personal indemnity and public liability insurance.
